Overview
Located in Dubai’s City Walk district, The Green Planet is a fully enclosed bio-dome that offers visitors the unique opportunity to explore a tropical rainforest vertically, home to over 3,000 species of plants and animals in the middle of the city. This one-of-a-kind “living museum” provides an educational and immersive service aimed at introducing guests of all ages to the complex ecosystem of nature. The Green Planet promises an unforgettable adventure while educating visitors about the beauty and fragility of one of the world’s oldest ecosystems.
At the center of the bio-dome stands the world’s largest man-made, life-sustaining tree. The experience begins as visitors take an elevator to the top level, the “Canopy.” This is the highest part of the rainforest, about 30-45 meters above the ground, where colorful tropical birds, toucans, and macaws fly freely. Visitors continue their journey downwards on a spiral ramp, observing animals that live in the treetops and walking across rope bridges. This design allows guests to experience the different layers of a rainforest in a natural flow.
As you descend, you reach the “Midstory” level. This is the area inhabited by creatures that live in the middle layer of the forest, such as sloths, monkeys, lizards, and tree snakes. Expert biologists and guides conduct informative presentations at specific times throughout the day, sharing valuable insights into the behaviors, feeding habits, and habitats of these animals. This interactive service encourages visitors not just to observe, but also to learn.
The next stop on the journey is the “Forest Floor,” the most active and mysterious part of the forest. In this humid and dimly lit area, a world filled with piranhas, mouse-deer (pelandok), anteaters, and various reptiles awaits visitors. On the lowest level is the “Flooded Rainforest” section. Here, you can witness the life of aquatic creatures like stingrays, arapaima, and turtles in a giant aquarium. Beyond a standard visit, The Green Planet also offers special programs such as encounters with sloths or piranhas, a thunderstorm experience in the rainforest, and even a “Zookeeper for a Day” program, creating a comprehensive and unforgettable range of services for nature and wildlife enthusiasts.
